Highlights:

Project U & I :: Overview

Jointly organised by the National Heritage Board (NHB) and the Ministry of Education (MOE), 'Project U & I' was a school outreach programme held in conjunction with Singapore HeritageFest 2010 to commemorate the inaugural Singapore Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in August 2010. This project encouraged students from Primary to Junior College levels to think about the universality of cultural values and beliefs, and to appreciate and respect each other’s cultures.

To ensure that many more people view this exciting project, the exhibition has travelled to HDB HUB (in the HDB building, opposite POSB bank on the first floor). It will be there till 18 October. Due to space constraints and design elements of the exhibition, half of the exhibition will be shown from now till 17 September, after which, it will be replaced with the remaining half of the exhibition. This remaining half of the exhibition will be on display from 18 September to 18 October 2010. For more details, please refer here.

A total of 191 schools participated in this exciting project. These dolls were displayed at Compass Point Shopping Centre, one of the festival satellite hubs during the Singapore HeritageFest 2010, from 11-15 August. Visit our doll gallery here for a full display of the doll entries.

Festival Finale :: Overview

For the first time in the seven year history of the Singapore HeritageFest, we are proud to bring to you three exciting days of heritage events at the Arts and Heritage District. Come down to the Singapore Management University (SMU) Campus Green and be part of the non-stop pulsating events and activities.

Beginning 20 August, you will be entertained with four mega concerts on one stage – English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil with a stunning line up of young and veteran local and regional artistes, a mega food fair with 18 stalls, an ethnic crafts fair, a contemporary art and crafts fair and craft demonstrations. There will also be cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, roving performances, games and children's programmes which the whole family can take part in! You can also meet and interact with hawkers from the past. Check out more activities happening at the Festival Finale (20 - 22 August) here!

Diverse Threads, One Humanity - Traditional Costumes Around the World :: Overview

From royalty to the commoner, from special occasion luxury to everyday wear, clothes tell colourful stories about a civilisation. Take a peek into the evolution of some of the world's cultures through the transformation of their traditional costumes. Check out the commonalities between costumes across different cultures and see how ethnic elements take on a new life in creative fashion designs. Definitely an enriching exhibition for both the young and old alike.
