- Project U & I :: Overview
-
Jointly organised by the National Heritage Board (NHB) and the Ministry of Education (MOE), 'Project U & I' is a school outreach programme to commemorate the inaugural Singapore Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in August 2010. This project encourages students to think about the universality of cultural values and beliefs, and to appreciate and respect other cultures.
Through this project, NHB aims to raise the awareness of Singaporean children and youth about various cultures of the world. Further, it is also hoped that they will learn to empathise with their counterparts as they begin to appreciate the different social, political and economic conditions of these countries.
The closing date for submission was on 23rd July 2010. A total of 184 schools participated in this exciting project. These dolls will be displayed at Compass Point Shopping Centre, one of the festival satellite hubs during the Singapore HeritageFest 2010, from 11-15 August. Meanwhile, you can view all the dolls at our gallery here.
We wish to thank all schools who have actively participated in this project for their support.
