A story-writing competition organised in conjunction with the Singapore HeritageFest 2010, the National Heritage Board and the Ministry of Education are jointly organising 'Arte(factually) Speaking', a story writing competition based on the artefacts found in the NHB National Museums’ collections.

Here's an opportunity for Primary and Secondary School students to showcase your creative-writing skills! Bring artefacts to life in your stories in this story-writing competition and stand to win great prizes!

Competition Objectives

The competition aims to create greater awareness and appreciation of the cultures of the many communities that call Singapore home, be it the cultures of incumbent or New Singaporeans through story-writing based on the National Heritage Board’s collections. In addition, the competition also aims to improve the students’ creative thinking and writing skills.

Things you need to know:

  1. Each participant may only submit one entry.
  2. Closing date is 14 July 2010, 11.59pm.
  3. Participants are required to write a short story based on the images of artefacts provided by the National Heritage Board (NHB). Check out "Rules & Regulations" for the word limit set for each category.
  4. The results will be announced online on Friday, 2 August 2010 via www.heritagefest.sg. All winners will be notified by post.
