Calling all photography enthusiasts! Whether photography is your passion, or your pastime, this competition is for you! Join our Facebook photography competition, and get a chance to express your thoughts on what brings us together, the theme of this year’s SHF! Don’t miss the chance to bring home cash and prizes!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE? 

Simply submit a photograph on our Singapore HeritageFest Fanpage that embodies the theme “What Brings Us Together?” Get inspiration from the people around you and share with us your heartwarming stories of togetherness. This competition is open to all, so feel free to join in!

COMPETITION OBJECTIVES:

Want an opportunity to explore what brings us together as Singaporeans? By taking a meaningful photograph of you and your family and friends coming together through an activity or hobby, you will be able to give your take on what it is that unites us as one, despite our varied backgrounds. The significance of harmony and unity in the midst of diversity is the message we hope to convey for this festival as well as this contest. Join us and see our home, Singapore, in a different light through lens!

JUDGING CRITERIA:

1. How well photo embodies the theme ‘What Brings Us Together’. E.g. shows togetherness of friends, family etc.

2. The level of diversity. E.g. shows multiculturalism and people of all ages.

3. The artistic quality of your photo.

4. The quality of your title and write-up of photo.

PRIZES:

Winner (S$50 + Mystery Prize) & 3 Runner-Ups (One Mystery Prize each)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF PHOTOGRAPH: 

1. Be a Fan on our Singapore HeritageFest fanpage here: http://www.facebook.com/SingaporeHeritageFest

2. Go to http://tinyurl.com/37cev96 to upload your photograph.  

3. Tag yourself on the photograph. Please tag only yourself, so that we know the identity of the participant clearly.

4. Give a catchy title to your photo and share a little bit with us what brings your family or friends together in the photo. Please begin your title with this: [LTTL].

5. Photos without the participants tagged will be disqualified.

6. Photos with inappropriate or irrelevant content will be disqualified and removed by the organizers.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

1. You are allowed to submit up to 3 entries.

2. You must be a fan of the SHF2010 fanpage, before you can take part in the competition.

3. Submission closing date is August 2 2010.

4. All winners and participants whose entries have been shortlisted will be informed by the organisers by 16 August 2010.

5. Entries received after the closing date and time will not be accepted. Participants are to ensure that all copyrights of other photos used in the entries are participants’ own.

6. If the closing date of the competition is extended due to unforeseen circumstances, an announcement will be made on www.heritagefest.sg and the facebook fanpage.

7. By joining, you agree to our rules and regulations as stated below.

RULES & REGULATIONS: 

[A] The Organisers (defined as the National Heritage Board):

- Reserve exhibition rights and publication rights to winning and selected entries in print, broadcast and electronic media without requiring the permission of the participant and without any fee payment. However, the Organisers will acknowledge the participants if their entries are used;

- Have the right to request that the participant provide autographs without charge when requested;

- Have the right to send the artworks on tour within Singapore and overseas;

- Have the right to use the participants’ artwork for promotional purposes without compensation to the participant;

- Will exercise every care in handling the entries but will not be responsible for any damages or loss when in its possession or in transit;

- Have the right to disqualify any entry submitted for non-compliance of the rules and regulations and any copyright infringements; and

- Will not be liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the participants;

- Recognises that the creator has copyright over the design of the poster or postcard but not over images of artefacts/artworks from NHB’s collection;

- Have copyright over images used in the design thus participants are required to seek permission with NHB for any form of reproduction of design that requires the images, including and not limited to the selling of design to any external parties, posting of design with images online, printing of poster or postcard etc;

- Reserve the right to modify the competition prizes and its rules and regulations as and when necessary, without prior notice.

[B] The submission of entries signifies acceptance of the above competition rules. Non-compliance may result in disqualification. Unauthorised use of NHB materials would render the user liable for copyright infringement.
