This is Not a Print!

10 January – 26 July 2009 (Admission charges apply)
8Q sam

'This is Not a Print!' features a selection of over 70 multiples and prints from the Singapore Art Museum's 1500-piece Tyler Art Collection; presented to the museum from master printer Kenneth Tyler's collection.

From Pop multiples prints by Jasper Johns and David Hockney, to the sculpture and conceptual works by John Newman, Claes Oldenberg and Roy Lichstenstein, This is Not a Print! traces the evolution of print making in Europe and America based on the concept of the artist's multiple with particular highlights on Tyler's influence in broadening the definitions of prints and multiples through his experimentation with new materials and technologies.

At Home Abroad

21 February – 26 July 2009 (Admission charges apply)
8Q sam

Working with five artists - Choy Ka Fai, Ming Wong, Zulkiflie Mahmod, Jason Lim and Ang Soo Koon - this exhibition will feature artworks that were previously shown and produced for an international audience, and serves as an opportunity to "bring" these works home. In doing so, it informs on the site-specificity in the nature of contemporary art practices, the sensitivities of these artists to their ethnic and national identities as well as the cultural richness of local audiences in the international venues that these works were staged.
